Founding Phase: Focus on Steel and Tools
The history of REMA TIP TOP begins in 1923, when brothers Otto and Willy Gruber founded a joint company for their trade in screws and small metal parts, which developed into the specialist wholesaler Stahlgruber. Founded as part of the Stahlgruber Group, REMA TIP TOP concentrated mainly on providing basic materials and tools for industry and trade in the 1920s. These products formed the backbone of our company activities and established REMA TIP TOP as a reliable supplier in the German industrial landscape.
Entry into Tire Repair
In the 1930s, we recognized a market opportunity in the growing automotive industry and began to specialize in tire repair. This was a decisive turning point: REMA TIP TOP developed innovative tire repair kits that quickly gained popularity. These kits greatly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of tire repair, which was instrumental in making a name for us in the automotive industry.
Global expansion
After the Second World War, as the economy in Germany began to grow, REMA TIP TOP took the opportunity to expand both nationally and internationally. During this time, we expanded our product lines and introduced further specializations, including materials and tools for industrial maintenance and repair.
Technological Innovation and Diversification
In the 1970s and 1980s, we diversified further and began developing specialty products for various industries. These included high-performance materials for mining and heavy industry as well as advanced solutions for corrosion protection and wear reduction. These developments marked our entry into materials technology, which is now a core area of REMA TIP TOP.
Focus on Digitalization and Sustainability
As we entered the 21st century, we increased our research and development activities and digitalized our product ranges and services. We introduced, for example, advanced monitoring systems and predictive maintenance technologies based on artificial intelligence to improve the service life and efficiency of industrial equipment. At the same time, we strengthened our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable processes in order to minimize REMA TIP TOP's ecological footprint.
